Basement Mold

Mold is a dangerous fungus that requires moisture, excessive humidity, and organic materials to feed off of to survive. These are all things that are often found beneath a home that doesn’t have any moisture control systems in place. This fungus is typically dark green or black, but it can also show up in a variety of other shades. It grows on walls, floors, curtains, boxes, carpeting, rugs, or anything else you may have down in this area of your home.

It is important to schedule testing and remediation services as soon as possible to get rid of this fungus as it is known to cause a variety of health problems, including the following:

  • Headaches
  • Skin rashes
  • Asthma attacks and breathing problems
  • Eye irritation
  • Allergies
  • Fatigue
  • Cold/flu-like symptoms

Warning Signs of a Problem

You will know that you have this fungus growing in your home if you can visibly see it growing, or if you notice that rooms smell very musty and foul. Unfortunately, there are also many times when the mold can’t be seen with the naked eye when it is growing behind drywall panels or is in a desolate location in the home – i.e. under heavy boxes kept in a storage closet in the basement. However, if you notice that your family is experiencing a variety of unexplained health problems, this fungus could be to blame, and you should immediately take action.

Waterproofing and Dehumidification

To take care of the problem, we can install waterproofing systems and products from Richtech® Industries, which will keep moisture out where it belongs. This includes sump pumps, drainage systems, and more. Additionally, we can install a dehumidifier to control the amount of moisture in the air – another leading cause of the growth of the fungus. We will walk you through the installation process for each so that you know what will be going on inside of your home.

We provide mold removal to various cities in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
